At the end of the course, students will have a deep knowledge of the behaviour of an olive grove.
You will learn what are the key management parameters to be taken into account to achieve a healthy and most productive olive grove.

Who is the course designed for?

The Olive Grove Management Course

The Olive Grove Management Course is designed for master millers, production managers as well as olive oil mill operators with or without experience in the production of extra virgin olive oils.

This course is also designed for amateur olive grove owners that would like to maximise their benefit.

How will the course be developed?

Theoretical and practical sessions

The course takes place in two days through face-to-face sessions in which a professional expert will present the theoretical content, and then take it into practice through visits to different olive groves. The two days of the course will include a mid-morning coffee break as well as a group meal.

TRAINING AREAS

Soil management

You will learn to manage the soil of your olive grove in different ways, taking into account a number of issues, such as: infiltration, run-off, erosion, evapotranspiration, importance of competition & importance of organic matter.

Pruning, Plagues and Diseases

You will learn how to perform an optimal pruning as well as to prevent plagues and diseases.

Nutrition and Irrigation

You will learn about the necessary nutrients for the correct growth of the olive tree as well as the quantity and opportune moments to carry out the irrigation avoiding water stress.

Organic olive grove

You will know firsthand how to manage and maintain an ecological olive grove.

Meet your teachers

The course is directed and coordinated by Susana Romera, Technical Director ESAO – Olive Oil School of Spain.

Rafa owns a Bachelors Degree in Biology and he is an Olive Grove Management Specialist. He is currently assessing more than 250 clients with a total amount of more than 500.000 olive trees located both in Spain and Portugal.
